A little preparation goes a long way toward making your camp stay picture-perfect!

High above the valley floor, where the air turns crisp and the pine trees stand watch over winding mountain roads, you’ll find SkyPark Camp + RV Resort: a peaceful retreat for seasoned travelers and first-time campers alike. Whether you arrive in a forty-foot motorhome or a cozy camper van, a little preparation will help you settle in and make the most of your stay among the clouds.

1. Check Your Route and Your Brakes

Mountain roads have their own rhythm. Before heading up Rim of the World Highway 18, be sure your vehicle is in good working order, especially your brakes and transmission. Allow extra time for the climb and be mindful of speed limits. Use the turnouts to allow faster vehicles to pass. Cell service can fade in and out along the way, so download directions in advance or consult a map before you leave home. If you are traveling during the winter months, consider carrying chains and always refer to CalTrans for road conditions.

2. Choose the Right Site Before You Arrive

Most sites at SkyPark Camp + RV offer full hook-ups with 50-amp power, water, and sewer connections. Some spaces are snug by design to preserve the natural slope of the mountain, so check your RV’s length and reserve a site that fits comfortably. When you check in at the front office (after 1 p.m.), we’ll provide a site map and a friendly orientation.

If you need help selecting a site, please contact the camp host at 909-744-9927 EXT. 226

3. Plan to Settle in Slowly

After you park, take a short walk around and get to know the campground. Note the locations of the bathrooms and laundry room. You may find that the air up here is thinner than what you’re used to (we’re at an elevation of 5,741 feet above sea level), and you’ll need time to adjust. Many guests find that a slow first hour spent stretching their legs helps them ease from travel mode into mountain time. Forget something? Don’t stress: there are grocery stores, a pharmacy, and a variety of shops just minutes away.

4. Prepare for Mountain Weather

Even in Southern California, the climate can surprise you. The mountain air keeps things fresh and unpredictable, which is part of the charm if you’re ready for it. Bring clothing that layers easily. Check the weather report before you arrive. You’ll want a warm jacket or sweatshirt for early mornings and evenings. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are always a good idea, especially if you plan to visit SkyPark at Santa’s Village. At this elevation, the sun can feel much closer, so sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat will keep you comfortable during the day.

5. Keep It Clean and Safe

Please remember that SkyPark Camp + RV sits within the San Bernardino National Forest, and we take stewardship seriously. Dispose of all trash properly, keep food stored in sealed containers, and never leave it outdoors overnight (black bears are curious neighbors). For fire safety, only self-contained propane campfires and grills (at least 6″ off the ground) are permitted. Community firepits are available on a first-come, first-served basis in the common areas.

6. Explore Nearby Adventures

Your stay can be more than your campsite. Just across the road lies SkyPark at Santa’s Village, a one-of-a-kind mountain adventure park with biking trails, a zipline, live entertainment, and year-round family fun. Many of our guests spend a day exploring the park, then return to the quiet comfort of their campsite as the sun sets behind the pines.

If you’re in the mood for a slower pace, Lake Arrowhead Village is just a short drive away, offering lakeside dining and local shopping.

7. Be Ready for Check-Out

Departure time is 11 a.m., though we understand it’s hard to say goodbye. Before you go, double-check your site, disconnect utilities carefully, and visit the dump station near the entrance if needed. We appreciate every guest who leaves their spot as tidy as they found it, ready for the next traveler to discover their own mountain getaway.
